Getting the Price Right
Pricing is the most common reason items don't sell on Dance Reloved. Too high and buyers scroll past. Too low and you're leaving money on the table.
The Simple Formula
Start with the original retail price, then apply these rough percentages based on condition:
- New with tags: 60–70% of retail
- Competition ready / Excellent: 40–55% of retail
- Light wear / Good: 25–40% of retail
- Fair / Visible wear: 15–25% of retail
What Affects Value
Brand matters. A Chrisanne Clover or Bloch item holds its value better than an unbranded one. If you know the brand, include it in the listing.
Competition costumes are different. These are often worn once or twice and command higher prices relative to condition. A stunning rhinestone costume in excellent condition can sell for 50–60% of retail even if it's been worn.
Shoes depreciate faster. Dance shoes show wear quickly and buyers are cautious. Price shoes conservatively unless they're barely worn.
The Pricing Mistake to Avoid
Don't start high and plan to reduce. Listings get the most attention in the first 48 hours. Price it right from the start and it'll sell faster.
